Al-Zukhruf 3 of 7

And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people, “I have no relation whatsoever with your deities.” 26 [I worship] only Him who created me, and He will certainly guide me," 27 This is the legacy he left to his descendants so that they may turn (to God). 28 In fact, I allowed them and their fathers to enjoy this life till the truth, and the apostle preaching it lucidly, came to them. 29 And when the Truth came to them they said: “This is just sorcery and we reject it.” 30 And they say: wherefore hath not this Qur'an been revealed to a man of the two cities who was great. 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And were it not that mankind would be one nation, We would have appointed for those who disbelieve in the All-merciful roofs of silver to their houses, and stairs whereon to mount, 33 doors for their houses, couches on which to recline, 34 And ornament of gold. And yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world; and the Hereafter with thy Lord is for the Godfearing. 35
