The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right hand; 38
