A crowd of earlier generations 39 and many from the later generations. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
