The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
