The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
