The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 While eyes are downcast 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
