He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
