The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
