Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
