Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
