So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
