The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
