The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
