The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
