The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
