The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
