He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 fruits, and grass. 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
