The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 Those who in their prayer are lowly. 2 Who shun all frivolities, 3 Who are active in deeds of charity; 4 and restrain their carnal desires 5 except with their wives and what their right hand possess, and then they are not blamed. 6 But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors - 7 Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants; 8 And those who are watchful of their acts of prayer. 9 These will be the heirs, 10 who will inherit Paradise; they shall live there for ever. 11 And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 12 and then We cause him to remain as a drop of sperm in [the wombs] firm keeping, 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 Thereafter you are destined to die, 15 Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected. 16 And certainly We made above you seven heavens; and never are We heedless of creation. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 Then We cause to grow thereby gardens of palm trees and grapes for you; you have in them many fruits and from them do you eat; 19 and a tree issuing from the Mount of Sinai that bears oil and seasoning for all to eat. 20 In the cattle, too, is a lesson for you. We let you drink of that which is in their bellies, and there are many benefits in them for you, and you eat of them, 21 And on them, and on ships you are carried. 22
