And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
