The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those who range themselves in rows; 1 By the angels driving away. 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Most surely your Allah is One: 4 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of whatever lies between the two, the Lord of the Easts. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars 6 And to guard against every rebellious devil. 7 they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, 8 cast out [from all grace,] with lasting suffering in store for them [in the life to come]; 9 Except him who snatcheth away a word by stealth, and him then pursueth a glowing flame. 10 So ask them, are they stronger in constitution, or those whom We have created. We have created them of sticky clay. 11 Nay, you (O Muhammad SAW) wondered (at their insolence) while they mock (at you and at the Quran). 12 and when they are admonished, they pay no heed; 13 and when they see a miracle, they mock 14 and say: 'This is nothing but clear sorcery' 15 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected. 16 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 17 Tell them: “Yes; and you are utterly helpless (against Allah).” 18 There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, 19 They will say, "Woe to us!" (They will be told), "This is the day of receiving recompense". 20 [They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." 21
