A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And in the shadow of a burning smoke. 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 “We have been penalised; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
