The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
