And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
