The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 saying: “Are we to follow a single mortal, one from among ourselves? If we do that, we shall surely be in error and folly. 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
