Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
