The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
