O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 “And indeed this religion of yours is one religion only and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me.” 52 Yet they have split their affairs between themselves into sects, each rejoicing in what it has. 53 So leave them in their intoxication till a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive. 56 Lo! those who go in awe for fear of their Lord. 57 And those who believe in the communications of their Lord, 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 and those who give what they give, their hearts quaking that they are returning to their Lord -- 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. 64 Implore not today; verily ye from Us are not to be succoured. 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allah, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Or, say they: in him is madness? O Aye he brought them the truth, and most of them to the truth are averse. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ If We took compassion on them and removed the affliction they are in, they would only wander lost in confusion. 75 We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
