Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
