The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
