He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe of God 9 You neglect. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Almighty God's Truth.
