Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in an exalted garden 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 I am bereft of power." 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
