The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
