▼ 8 The Spoils of War
Al-Anfaal 9 of 10

Prophet, urge the believers to fight; if there are twenty of you who are steadfast, they will overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred of you, they will overcome a thousand of those who deny the truth, for they are devoid of understanding. 65 God has lightened your burden as He knows you are weak: So, if there are a hundred men of firm determination among you, they will vanquish two hundred; and if there are a thousand of you they will vanquish two thousand by the will of God, for God is with those who are determined. 66 It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. 67 Were it not that a writ had already gone forth from Allah, there would surely have touched you a mighty torment for that which ye took 68 Eat ye then of that which ye have obtained of spoil, lawful and clean, fear Allah; verily Allah is Forgiving, Merciful 69
