And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie, 12 And my breast straiteneth, and my tongue moveth not quickly: so send for Harun. 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 He said: 'Never so, go both of you with Our signs; We shall be with you, listening 15 Go to the Pharaoh and tell him: 'We bring a message from the Lord of all the worlds 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 Said Firaun, “Did we do not raise you amongst us, as a child? And you spent many years of your life among us!” 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 33
