He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
