Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
