۞ It was He who created you from a single soul, and from it made its mate so that he may find comfort in her. Once he has covered her, she conceives and goes about with a light burden. When it grows heavy, they both call to God, their Lord, "If You bestow on us a healthy child, we will surely be grateful," 189 But when He gave them a Salih (good in every aspect) child, they ascribed partners to Him (Allah) in that which He has given to them. High be Allah, Exalted above all that they ascribe as partners to Him. (Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 9, Page 148). 190 Do they (the pagans) consider things that do not create anything but are themselves created equal to God? 191 They can give them no help, nor can they help themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is the same whether you call them or you are silent. 193 Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah are slaves like unto you. Call on them now, and let them answer you, if ye are truthful! 194 Do they have feet to walk on, or hands to hold with, or eyes to see and ears to hear with? Say to them: "Call your compeers, and work out a plot against me, and do not give me time. 195 "For my Protector is Allah, Who revealed the Book (from time to time), and He will choose and befriend the righteous. 196 And those whom you call upon besides Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 If you call them to the guidance they do not hear; and thou seest them looking at thee, unperceiving. 198 Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e. don't punish them). 199 When satan provokes you seek refuge in Allah; He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 200 Those who fear Allah, when a thought of evil from Satan assaults them, bring Allah to remembrance, when lo! they see (aright)! 201 But (as for) their brothers (the devils) they (i.e. the devils) plunge them deeper into error, and they never stop short. 202 And when you bring them not a revelation they say: Why do you not forge it? Say: I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord; these are clear proofs from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe. 203 Hence, when the Qur'an is voiced, hearken unto it, and listen in silence, so that you might be graced with [God's] mercy." 204 And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones. 205 Verily those who are with thy Lord are not stiff-necked against His worship, and they hallow, and unto Him they prostrate themselves. ۩ 206
