So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
