The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
