The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
