The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A written record, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
