Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In the high empyrean, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
