And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
