'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
