The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 arise, and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
