The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
