The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
