The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ O Prophet, fear Allah, and do not obey the unbelievers and the hypocrites. Allah is the Knower, the Wise. 1 And follow what is revealed to thee from thy Lord; surely God is aware of the things you do. 2 And put thy trust in Allah and Allah sufficeth as a Trustee. 3 Allah has not made for any man two hearts within him; nor has He made your wives whose backs you liken to the backs of your mothers as your mothers, nor has He made those whom you assert to be your sons your real sons; these are the words of your mouths; and Allah speaks the truth and He guides to the way. 4 Call them after their own fathers; that is closer to justice in the sight of God. If you do not know their fathers, regard them as your brothers in faith and your proteges. You will not be blamed if you make a mistake, you will be held accountable only for what in your hearts you have done intentionally. God is forgiving and merciful. 5 The Prophet has more authority over the believers than themselves. His wives are their mothers. The relatives are closer to each other, according to the Book of God, than the believers and the emigrants. However, you may show kindness to your guardians. This also is written in the Book. 6 And remember O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) when We took a covenant from the Prophets – and from you – and from Nooh, and Ibrahim, and Moosa, and Eisa the son of Maryam; and We took a firm covenant from them. 7 (It was) so that God may ask the truthful of their sincerity. As for the infidels, He has prepared a painful punishment for them. 8
