Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
