The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
