The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
